Services
We service clients in and around Laval.

We offer mobile services and, as a result, our services take place in the child's natural environment. We work primarily in the family home, but are also available to work in other settings such as the child's daycare center or school.

We offer services to children with various needs. Here are just some of the things that we can work on with your child...
Feeding Difficulties

Feeding difficulties are a major problem for children, and can cause frustration, stress, and worry for parents regarding their child's well-being. It is often believed that eating is entirely instinctive, therefore, a child will inevitably eat. This is a myth because eating is a learned behavior. When a child begins to discover a food and the experience becomes unpleasant, the body will block the appetite. Various factors can prevent a child from eating, such as delays in oral motor skills, medical problems, sensory disorders or others.

Occupational therapists play an important role in helping children work through these difficulties and develop healthy eating habits. There are numerous reasons why many children are picky eaters, but sensory disorders are one of the most difficult to overcome.
Fine Motor Difficulties
Fine motor skills are the coordination of small muscular movements that occur in parts of the body such as the hands, wrists, and fingers, usually in coordination with the eyes. Our hands need these skills to perform tasks such as holding a pencil for writing and drawing, fastening zippers, buttons, and shoelaces, or playing with small objects such as beads or Lego. Fine motor skills play a key role, since our hands act as the tools most frequently used to carry out activities of daily living, perform tasks, and play. An occupational therapist can assess underlying difficulties and suggest activities and games to develop muscle strength, coordination and independence in fine motor tasks.

Gross Motor Difficulties
*In babies and toddlers
Gross motor skills include movements which come from large muscle groups and whole body movement involving movements of the arms, legs, feet, or entire body. These skills allow us to participate in activities such as running, crawling, walking, swimming, climbing, and jumping. An occupational therapist can help assess underlying difficulties and suggest activities and games to strengthen muscles, develop coordination and promote independence in motor tasks.

We can help your child improve in the following areas:
-Rolling
-Sitting
-Crawling
-Walking
-Using stairs
-Transfers between positions

Sensory Difficulties
Many children experience sensory difficulties that can affect how they process and respond to sensory information in their environment. These may include sensitivities to sounds, textures, lights, or movements, leading to behaviors such as overreacting to certain stimuli, avoiding specific activities, or having difficulty completing everyday tasks.
Occupational therapists can play a vital role in helping children manage their sensory difficulties. Through engaging activities and tailored strategies, occupational therapists can help improve sensory integration skills, develop coping strategies for challenging situations, and facilitate participation in daily activities.

Evaluation
An occupational therapy evaluation is a process that normally includes various stages, such as data collection, interviews with the child's family, assessments, observations, drafting of a detailed report / recommendations (if applicable) and follow-up with the parents.

Intervention
The therapeutic approach used by the occupational therapist working with children is activity, and more specifically, play. Over the course of the intervention period, the occupational therapist uses a variety of enjoyable and motivating activities to help the child develop the skills needed to participate fully and happily in activities at daycare, school, home or any other environment. A reassessment of the child's abilities is made at each meeting to adapt interventions as needed.

Consultation
Consultations are offered to the various caregivers in the child’s life (parents, daycare/school personnel, etc.) throughout the course of the intervention period to ensure the best possible outcome for the child.
